Hovaria® 'Holibel'
The white Hovaria® ’Holibel’ is an extremely strong hydrangea.

Hovaria 'Holibel'

The Hovaria® 'Holibel' is a mutant of the white lacecap (Teller) variety ’Libelle’ while maintaining all of its good qualities. One great advantage it has is that during flowering there will be almost no moulting of spent little fertile florets.

When the flowering starts, the ‘Holibel’ will have a circle of sterile florets in the margin of the flat inflorescence. These will open a little sooner than the rest. After a short time the flower head will be totally filled with loads of white sterile florets. There will be so many that they will push away each other forming a spherical inflorescence.

The inflorescences of the original lacecap variety ’Libelle’, under good conditions, will appear a little more filled than those of other lacecaps. However, because of the plant’s genetics, inflorescences of ’Holibel’ always appear totally filled even when conditions in the garden are not so good and as well from early as from late formed buds.

The flowers and the leaves of the Hovaria® ’Holibel’ have excellent longevity and the plant has strong roots. As far as we know there is no stronger white hydrangea.

Do not plant the Hovaria® ’Holibel’ where it will receive strong midday sun exposure. It likes the early morning sun and the late afternoon sun. After several months of flowering, the colour of the flowers will change to a trendy moss-green tint. After that the flowers will be very suitable for use as dried flowers.
