Hovaria® 'Ripple'

Hovaria 'Ripple'

This brand new Hovaria® Hydrangea has strong stems and large full flower heads with rounded white flowers. Each petal on its turn has an extremely bright red margin.

That striking red colour is caused by the making of anthocyanin (a red pigment) at the margin of the petals and in the leaves, the Hovaria 'Ripple' will attract anybody's attention immediately! When the flower buds will have a diameter of a few centimeters -even a long time before the white colour of the flower will be visible- the red margins already can be seen. After flowering the colour of the flowers will turn into green and can be used as dry flowers.

As house plant this special Hydrangea has a good longevity if it gets a place directly in front of a window. From May 15th it can be planted outside. There in the garden Hovaria 'Ripple' has a surprising outgrow of the young shoots: the leaves are strongly red coloured. The hardiness in winter is the same like other Hydrangea macrophylla varieties.
