Hovaria® 'Mirai'
A "sister" of Hovaria® 'Love you kiss'

Hovaria 'Mirai'

This Japanese mophead Hydrangea has white florets in its inflorescences. Each petal on its turn has a red margin. At a lower temperature and with more light it will be more intensively red coloured.

By making anthocyanin (a red pigment) at the margin of the petals and in the leaves, the Hovaria® 'Mirai' attracts attention immediately. When the flower buds are a few centimeters in diameter -even a long time before the white colour of the flower is visible- the red margins can already be seen.In full bloom the flowers change colour from white into soft pink, the red margin is less striking at this stage. After that, the colour of the inflorescences will change via green into red.

The leaf colour of this special Hydrangea changes too. In the garden the young leaves are a rich red-brown in spring. A lovely eye-catcher in your Hydrangea collection!
In summer the leaves still have a slightly red tint and in autumn the intensity of the red colour increases on the younger leaves.

Because of her good bud development the Hovaria® 'Mirai' flowers easily every year and her winter hardiness is just as that of other Hydrangeas. Several hours of direct sunlight in the early morning or late evening is recommended. The growth is about the same as the average Hydrangea macrophylla.

Important: When buying this special variety, please convince yourself that you have an original Hovaria! On the colour label, attached to each plant, the trademark Hovaria has to be mentioned.
