Hydrangea aspera

This is a rather coarsely growing shrub that will reach a height of about 3 metres and prefers growing in shade. The leaves and stems are somewhat hairy and the nearly flat flowerheads have white or pink sterile flowers in the margin around a centre of white, pink or violet fertile flowers. Hydrangea aspera is native in a number of Asian countries with a variety of growing conditions and that’s why there is a great variation within this variety group.
